Bakery-Style Cupcakes from a Box!

So, here's the thing; I love making home-made "wow-worthy" desserts, but I'm also a single mom with not a lot of time on her hands. Therefore, I'm always on the lookout for some sort of lazy mom hack. That's how these cupcakes were born!

Bakery-Style Cupcakes from a Box!


*This is specific to the Betty Crocker Super Moist Yellow Cake Mix. Other boxed mixes will require a different ratio of these ingredients. If you have any questions, please leave a comment below and I will be more than happy to help you out! :)

- Betty Crocker Super Moist Cake Mix

- 1 cup of Whole Milk

- 1/2 cup of Vegetable Oil

- 5 Eggs

- 2 tsp of Vanilla Extract

- Icing

- Candy*

Makes 24 cupcakes

Bakery-Style Cupcakes

1. Preheat to 350°F and line cupcake pans with cupcake liners*.

2. Combine cake mix, oil, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.

3. Mix with an electric mixer on medium speed (or vigorously by hand).

4. Bake for 17 minutes

5. Completely cool before icing, or before adding a cupcake surprise (explained below)

*Pro tip: If you plan on filling your cupcakes with different candies for different people, use different cupcake liner colors as a color code to help differentiate which color holds which candy ☺️

Cupcake Surprise!

1. Let cupcakes completely cool or the candy will melt

2. Use a piping icing tip to cut a hole in the center of the cupcake

3. Remove center of the cupcake, but keep it off to the side

4. Place your favorite candies in the hole

5. Put the top of the center back onto the cupcake to create a base for icing

6. Add icing, sprinkles & enjoy!
